Saturday, July 23 @ 1:00-4:00 | Clementine Studio The Italian designer, educator, and artist Bruno Munari created a series of workshops to help children and adults alike understand basic theories and artistic practices. In this workshop, we focus on his Drawing a Tree workshop. Each person will create a large-scale finished artwork based on his principle that every tree is made up of a series of Y’s that get perpetually thinner as the tree spans outwards. Through collage and drawing we will create an image of a tree that is founded on this principle. We will explore ways to expound upon this principle and how to embellish and complicate this basic rule through both drawing and material. Materials used will be paper (ideally 22" x 30", but not smaller than 18" x 26"), pens, markers, pencils, construction paper, magazines, and other various materials that can be used in 2D collage. This hands-on workshop will teach you to use turning tools to create a meditation seed pot form. We will cover basics such as tool types, wood orientation and wood movement. Mon-Wed, August 8-10 (3 day workshop) Dvora is an accomplished artist and instructor who has taught painting in Boulder Colorado for over 15 years. She now resides in Salida, Colorado where her art studio doubles as a tango dance studio. She is known for ability to inspire and guide other artists of all levels to increase their self-confidence, skill, and creativity. About the studio: www.casatangosalida.com Unleashed Color, a fresh approach blending intuition, knowledge, emotion, and sight. The goal will be to create skillful, personally authentic paintings with the skillful and encouraging coaching from Dvora Kanegis. You will work in a small scale, not larger than 2 foot square, “big” paintings in a small format in most color mediums. (no oil paints or oil/chalk pastels) You will enjoy the beautiful views and the fresh air of Salida from the studio patio for inspiration. 10 am - 4 pm, Monday - Wednesday with an hour for lunch and relaxation on the large outdoor patio attached to the studio. Materials: 5 (2-foot) canvases, papers, boards or whatever you want to paint on; your paints, brushes or any other painting tools; an easel, folding table, a chair or stool, and a painter’s drop cloth.
